Where are you two honeymooning? Far away on a sandy Beach, aboard ship, or perhaps on a mountaintop?
It all entails a trip when you most need to unwind with each other ASAP. It can be expensive too! But have you ever considered remaining in the general area where you “tied the knot?”
There are Bed & Breakfast groups that co-op in this business of weddings and receptions. These are primarily weekend events, so you could possibly cut a deal and a half by letting them co-op with each other, hosting you two on a “Progressive Honeymoon.”
Here is how it might work. Spend your Saturday wedding night and Sunday at a local, but different B&B from your wedding site. You will have anonymity and seclusion instead of the company of family and friends. Two days there mid-week will give you tender, loving care: breakfast in bed, alone in the dining room, in some esoteric spot on the property, or maybe a picnic in the woods…
Then, let your coop group help you choose a completely different B&B for days Monday and Tuesday. Close, but stylistically, another profile. They will devise an itinerary for you alone, for these groups are like potpourri; a bouquet of blossoms from roses to daisies or rustic sunflowers. Mid-week you will probably be the starring and perhaps only guests, and your wishes are their command. Wednesday and Thursday could find you back at your wedding site for a short week of honeymooning. You’ll get to experience the intimacy of the area’s charming B&B’s and maybe explore some of the quaint Centre Region towns. We often don’t realize what treasures are right down the street when we’re here all the time!
Cost to you? So much less than cruises, sandy beaches or mountain peaks. (There ARE river boats, mountaintops and shoreline alcoves here in Happy Valley, too!) The difference is money in the bank for that first mortgage and precious, unique memories close to home. It can be a “green” (as in cash) Pennsylvania interlude rather than an “Inn the Red” excursion!
